Ask for crawl space help
If water is rising under the house or part of a floor feels like it could give way, call. For smells, vapor barriers, dehumidifiers and inspections before a sale, a request works fine and a local company will call you back.
Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your street and town, so the request goes to a company that works in that part of Nash or Edgecombe County
- What you've noticed: a smell, sagging insulation, water on the ground, torn plastic or a soft floor
- Whether the crawl space is vented or has already been sealed, if you know
- Whether the house has ever taken on floodwater, from Floyd or a later storm
- If you're buying or selling, when your due diligence period ends
Crawl space flooded after a storm? Keep out until power to anything under the house is shut off, and don't crawl under a section of floor that's visibly sagging.
